Canada Northwest Territories Delegation Visited Asia Jan. 2015
A delegation from Northwest Territories, including government officials and businessmen visited Asia from Jan 5th to 21st 2015. As the best kept treasure of Canada (Canadian Ambassador to China Guy Saint-Jacques said), Northwest Territories wants to promote their quality products and establish relationships in Aisa. The delegation was led by Premier of Northwest Territories, Mr. Bob McLeod and Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment, Mr. David Ramsay.
Sunrise Group was engaged by government of Northwest Territories to assist the mission to Asia for our extensive experience in government and trade missions. Sunrise Group provided professional services for ensuring a successful visit, including facilitating on itinerary arrangements, scheduling media meeting, providing English-Chinese/English-Japanese documents translation and on-site interpretation, and coordinating with government departments and organizations. This visit effectively consolidated the cooperation and connection between Northwest Territories of Canada and Asia, and further promoted Northwest Territories into the Asian market.

In the world of fashion, local wild fur is very popular due to its natural premium quality. Northwest Territories showcased their fur products at China Fur & Leather Products Fair, and attended opening gala and fashion show in Beijing. Sunrise Group assisted Northwest Territories for introducing high quality furs to exhibitors and visitors.
Because of the beauty of natural landscape, China is Canada’s fastest-growing tourism market, doubling every year. Northwest Territories area is one of few undeveloped wild place that people can experience the nature themselves. In addition, aboriginal have lived here for thousand years with vibrant culture. Therefore, tourists can experience thousands historical cultural stories and authentic culture. In the introduction and marketing events to Chinese and Japanese tourism industry and media, Premier Mr. McLeod said, Canada Northwest Territories offers a unique experience to those eager for adventure, and far away from noisy city and busy life. “For most travelers, Northwest Territories is a wonderful place to enjoy the magnificent aurora due to silent landscape and twilight sky in winter.” He commented.
The annual output of diamond in Northwest Territories has exceeded South Africa and now the third biggest diamond origin in the world, just behind Russia and Republic of Botswana. The diamonds from Northwest Territories are known for high clarity. In Shanghai, the delegation visited Shanghai Diamond Exchange and Chow Tai Fook jewellery store. This visiting intend to connect further Northwest Territories diamond industry and Chinese jewellery market.
At the last stop of the trip, Government of Northwest Territories and Canadian Embassy co- hosted a grand gala and fashion show at the Embassy in Tokyo. The gala invited Japanese politicians, well-known businessmen, and media, to promote Northwest Territories’ wild furs, aboriginal handcrafts, and beautiful diamonds. The delegation completed the trip with satisfaction that relationship have been developed and strengthened in both China and Japan.
